"Ran from the Depths"
We tend to forget that we need to uncover and embrace our depths to fully value and pursue our dreams in all its glory. (Series: Original Poems)
Beneath the waves hide more secrets and fears undiscovered
Yet most chose to escape to the stars when we need them to be anchored
Most fled to the skies hoping to find our future’s answer
Then deny the advice shared by Pisces and Cancer
As tides from all over, rise high and low
Each wave above, a movement below
Beyond our skies have more maps where our bodies cannot travel
While a world thrives in salinity has more life we have yet to unravel
We’ve implored that which is beyond our earthly grasp
Yet the answers we seek, we can find after we rise for a gasp
On how to save our dying planet and dwindling lives
From our aquatic evolution, we discover and learn from all our dives
Why fear and deny the depths of the reality in front of us?
Why escape the issues that we long to start to discuss?
Why be so eager to seek what we lack?
Yet, with what we have, we turn our backs or attack?
The irony of searching for the meaning of life in a star
And still fears the depths beneath the waves, I find bizarre.
During the time I wrote this, I read an article that said,
“Outer space has been explored way more than the depths of the ocean”.
Which made me sad because even if life outside are planet is quite fascinating,
why aren’t there any more research, discoveries about life under the sea?
So I played around with the idea that the outer space is the big lofty dreams we have
while the undiscovered world in the ocean is the depths of one’s psyche
to understand ourselves better.
It’s like chasing only the good without embracing its shadows.
With that, I wanted to leave you a question:
”What usually preoccupies your mind all day: your dreams or your shadows?”
